Memory Care
Meaningful Activities to Support Memory, Mental Health, and Connection
Living with dementia or memory challenges does not mean giving up the activities and moments that bring joy and purpose. At For The One You Love, our memory care at-home service focuses on engaging your loved one in purposeful, enjoyable activities that stimulate the brain, nurture the spirit, and support well-being, whether at home or in the community.
Our approach is strengths-based. We focus on what your loved one can do, drawing on their interests, personality, humour, and life experience to create moments of genuine engagement and confidence. This service is part of our comprehensive Home and Companion Care program and is tailored to each individual through a personalized care plan assessment. Both you and your loved one matter in this process.

Benefits of Memory Care Support at Home
Familiarity and Comfort: Receiving home care support in a familiar environment reduces anxiety and provides a sense of security that supports engagement and well-being. For a person living with dementia, this familiarity is especially essential.
A Strengths-Based Approach: We focus on what your loved one can do, their interests, abilities, and personality, rather than on their limitations. Meaningful activities build confidence, dignity, and a sense of purpose.
Consistent, Trusted Companionship: Regular visits from a familiar caregiver build trust and routine, both of which are particularly important for older adults experiencing cognitive change and for the family members who care for them.
Support for Mental Health and Mood: Purposeful engagement, physical activity, and social connection all contribute to better mental health outcomes. Staying active and engaged helps reduce stress, agitation, and withdrawal, and supports a more positive daily experience.
Peace of Mind for Families: Caregivers and family members can rest knowing their loved one is safe, engaged, and treated with warmth and respect. Our services provide the support and education families need to feel confident in the care being provided.
Caregiver Respite: Memory care can be emotionally and physically demanding. Our support gives primary caregivers trusted time to rest, attend appointments, or simply take a breath, reducing the risk of caregiver burnout.
Quality of Life and Daily Living: Meaningful activities, gentle exercise, and social engagement all contribute to a better quality of life and help your loved one maintain their abilities and participate in daily living for as long as possible.
3-Dimension Activity Group
Our weekly 3-Dimension Activity Group at The 55 Activity Centre in Squamish is designed for older adults experiencing cognitive change. It offers structured, strengths-based programming in a welcoming community setting that stimulates the mind, supports physical well-being, and encourages meaningful social connection.
For caregivers, the program provides a dedicated window of trusted respite during the week, allowing you to work, attend appointments, connect with friends, or simply rest. Sessions run on Mondays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 2:30 pm.
How It Works
Personalized Care Plan Assessment
We begin with a comprehensive assessment conducted by Patricia. She takes into account your loved one’s specific interests, cognitive abilities, daily routines, and personal history, as well as the needs of the primary caregiver and family. This allows us to create a care plan that is genuinely tailored to the individual and designed to support their health, safety, and well-being.
Matched with a Trusted Caregiver
Your loved one will be paired with a professional caregiver who is experienced, compassionate, and knowledgeable in supporting a person living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or other forms of cognitive change. Our caregivers provide hands-on assistance and supervision where needed and undergo thorough background checks and training.
Activities Adapted Over Time
As your loved one’s needs and abilities change, we adapt the activities and approach accordingly. Patricia and your care team remain in close communication with you, so that everyone stays informed and the plan continues to reflect what is working. The goal is always to engage, maintain, and contribute to your loved one’s quality of life.
Flexible Scheduling
Whether you need regular weekly visits or support for specific days and times, we work around your schedule. Simply contact us to share your needs, and we will coordinate the details.
