We have deep roots in the Squamish Health Care Community, offering practical help, guidance and peace of mind to our clients since 1999. We specialize in going beyond the basics by designing individualized programs that deliver relief, renewed hope and a sense of well being in challenging situations.

Patricia King | Founder & Managing Director

Patricia has played a decisive role in creating a vision for comprehensive and personalized senior care services. One of her early clients responded so well to an individualized enhanced program that she began offering it on a regular basis. Her approach was noted in the wider health care community, and she attracted professionals who also wanted to work in this caring manner that takes the whole person and their families into account.

Patricia’s focus is on offering a helping hand to the family while empowering seniors through engagement with art, music, companionship and more. Two decades of experience enable her to focus on what is most important and relevant to her clients.

A graduate of Douglas College’s End of Life Doula program, Patricia offers educated choices and a sense of empowerment and closure to families engaged in the end of life journey. She provides care, support and advocacy for someone who is facing the end of their life.

Jenny Sumner | Care Manager

Jenny acts as an extension of Patricia in her role as Care Manager. She believes that her most important contribution to our team is spreading a sense of optimism, energy and commitment. In charge of managing the day to day work of our care team, she takes care of hiring, assists in writing up and updating individual Care Plans, and finding solutions for any and all issues. She finds her work incredibly satisfying because her focus is on taking personal care of your loved ones and also our entire team.

Jenny’s role includes attracting top talent, training staff, keeping the lines of communication open with the team, and constantly improving systems, protocols and procedures. She is inspired by the high professional standards of the team and believes that imagining her own parents in place of her clients helps her to deliver the best-personalized care. Her most important skills are being a good listener and enjoying a good laugh. And like everyone at For the One You Love, Jenny understands that listening with the heart is the key to an effective team and happy clients.

OUR CARE TEAM

We collaborate with Personal Support Workers and Companions selected for their caring attitude and practical expertise. With them, Patricia has created a team that truly reflects her basic conviction that seniors and their families can enjoy their time together with joy and love, in spite of challenges. Working together, we offer understanding and relief to family caregivers so that life with their seniors is meaningful, joyful and dignified.

The crucial difference that sets our team apart is additional personal training from Patricia. We focus on developing a meaningful relationship with each individual client, discovering what they enjoy, and being a friend as well as a caretaker. Little things like a bunch of wildflowers or a favorite book make a world of difference. It’s those caring touches that are the heartbeat of our services. We never forget we are professionals in a role that requires a high level of care as well as a truly generous spirit.
